I’m exhausted after my trip to Melbourne, Australia. I’m not sure how that’s possible since I was sitting the whole time. Maybe it’s the fact that I just had my mind blown. (It was painless if anyone asks) Today we’re featuring a piece of internet magic. I quite certain that there was no coding involved in this project, or “technology” either. They used magic. Melbourne.com has given us a way to take a 3D tour of their beautiful city. To soothe your soul on the tour they used a stock music track by Solidbeats.

Fuoriskema, a sneakers shop from Florence (Italy),wanted a poster to promote the new 20th Anniversary Reebok Pump shoes. 1 stock photographs, 1 stock vector, and plenty of blood sweat and tears later, and they had produced THE poster. Now it leaves me longing for a giant poster that is an actual pump shoe.

Ready to see some more stock in action? Good me too. Today we’re featuring a very cool use of stock. (And a very cool and unique stock Flash file.) It’s a Flash and XML powered fine art gallery which a person can use to showcase their work/artwork etc. Use Your Imagination Studio used it to create an incredible portfolio experience for interior designer Rene Zensen. The results are fabulous.

In actuality the piece of stock that was used in this illustration was a photo of an empty room. How’s that for magic?

Wow this is an epic CD cover with its pyramid, space craft, and lightning. It’s also using 4 stock images to blow your mind. This is the CD cover for Uberbyte’s second full-length album, DOS. Uberbyte is an Industrial/Electronic band from the U.K.

Here at stock in action we like to try and communicate how stock photos, illustrations, and webdesign can increase your productivity. Today’s example is from EAMejia. EAMejia used a stock photo of an attractive man and woman, and then embellished the image with their own style, to showcase and advertise their graphic design skills and quickly grow their portfolio.

This is a gaze into the soul Print Advertisement for Muji. It uses a stock photo of an eyeball. I’m embarrassed to report that it’s brought out the worst in me, making me say things like “Eye see you!” and “Eye’ve got my eye on you!” Eye know, pathetic right?

Nathan brown took care of most of the creative genius himself on today’s feature. He just needed a face that would work perfectly for what he had envisioned. In order to do that he scoured the masses of stock photos and illustrations available to him, and chose a stock photo of a woman at a spa, and then crafted it into the book cover for the novel Serpent Rising.

When The Heeren Shops defined what they wanted their shopping bags to portray, they used these words: “Urban, Colourful, Hip, Trendy, Fashionable, Impact, Cool, Special, Unique, Style and Privileges.” What they got? Exactly that, and easily too. The in house designer chose a stock fun vibrant stock vector for the background, and viola Heeren had their shopping bags.
